With broad political support, the government has set ambitious objectives for the field of energy. Buildings must play a central role in achieving these objectives.
Buildings represent 40% of Denmark's total energy consumption and the vast majority of the state building stock - and an even larger part of the total public building stock - have been constructed in the last 40-50 years. This is one of the areas where it will be most cost-effective for us to concentrate our efforts. We must take advantage of that potential.
The Danish Building and Property Agency has already launched many initiatives for energy optimisation and has made the decision to give priority to a number of additional efforts. Therefore, the main heading for 2013 is execution of the many decisions that have been made concerning efforts in the field of energy.
The energy strategy divides the efforts up into a number of focus areas and priority efforts:
- Portfolio management
The Danish Building and Property Agency will work determinedly with energy optimisation of the overall portfolio
- State-owned office and university properties
